Redeeming Love Bible Broadcast

In Light of Who He Is

Pastor Phil Duddy Season 5 Episode 6

Send us a text

God speaks to humanity through simple yet profound means. Today we look at the crucial significance of Jesus taking on flesh and living among us, and reflect on His pivotal declarations like "I am the way, the truth, and the life" from John 14 and "I am Alpha and Omega" from Revelation.

Our conversation also delves into the Lord’s longing for a deep personal relationship with each believer, while highlighting His self-sufficiency and completeness. As we reflect on the church being the bride of Christ and the joy of eternal life in knowing and walking with Him, we extend a warm invitation to those newly born again to connect with our ministry.

NEW BOOK! I'm pleased to say that we have completed a new book that has been years in the making. The Ten Shirot: Songs of Redemption looks at ten songs that were sung through pivotal times in Scripture. It's an examination of the redemption of Jesus, of worship, and of Scripture in a way that we believe you probably haven't seen before. Check it out at https://a.co/d/0a4KIooL .

Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome to the Redeeming Love Bible broadcast. My name is Phil Duddy, evangelist with Grace Baptist Tabernacle of King, north Carolina, really glad and thankful to have you with me on the program today. As always, please do reach out to us at redeemingthelost at iCloudcom. We would love to hear from you there, and today we are going to start out with something that's very, very simple and very, very profound at the same time. The Lord expresses himself in ways that people can relate with, ways that people can understand, ways that people can interact with, and something that, from our perspective, it's like you can almost take it for granted that we even have a word of God. We have a written word of God and inside of this written Word of God, we've got several instances when the Lord said something, when the Lord spoke, when the Lord did something, especially when Jesus, the Lord, took upon Himself flesh and Jesus was walking among us and Jesus was speaking and Jesus was doing and Jesus was interacting with people things that you can almost take it for granted. And yet it is the most profound thing because we've got the Lord Himself. I am that, I am that I am, and he is speaking with us. The Holy is interacting with us. The Almighty is interacting with us. The Omnipotent and the Omniscient is interacting with us. The almighty is interacting with us. The omnipotent and the omniscient is interacting with us, three in one, one in three Father, son and Holy Spirit. And this God doesn't keep to himself and this God doesn't stay distant, but he interacts, he interacts, he interacts, he interacts. Throughout the Old Testament we've got several instances God said, god said, god said, god said, and in Jesus we've got kind of like the height of that when the Lord took upon him a body of flesh and he was born of a virgin and he went through of a virgin and he, you know, went through a literal birth and he had, you know, he was raised in a household and Scripture tells us that he learned obedience. Scripture tells us that he grew. Scripture tells us that. You know that. You know, mary and Joseph had other children and they interacted with Jesus as well. Jesus had what you might call home life and he grew and he grew and he grew and at the age of 30, he went in the wilderness, he went to John, he was baptized. And that's when, you know, a lot of people will say, that's when the you know, people call it, the public ministry of Jesus really began. But we've got to look at that. It's so easy to read over it, but it's so precious that the Lord interacts and that the Lord interacts in very, very tangible, very, very simple, very, very simple, relatable ways. And that is a precious, precious thing.

Speaker 1:

And we're going to focus in on two sort of statements that the Lord made about Himself in the Scripture and statements that express who he is. And the first one's in John 14. Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by Me. The second one is repeated in the book of Revelation. It's in chapter 1, chapter 21, and chapter 22. And the Lord's saying of himself I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending.

Speaker 1:

And this, you know, when God speaks and when God does, it's kind of hard for us to put it into words, because it simply is. It simply is the Lord, simply is. He simply is the way, the truth and the life. And it's a simple truth that no man cometh to the Father but by me. And that's Jesus speaking. The Lord simply is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending. And even those titles, those are letters in the Greek alphabet, the first and the final letters in the Greek alphabet.

Speaker 1:

That's God putting something into relatable words. That's God putting something that His nature, who he is. He existed before time, he existed before creation, he existed before space, he existed before all of these. He just simply is. And here's God wanting to relate to humanity, wanting to relate to people, wanting to relate to people, whether those people believe Him or whether they don't believe him, whether they're Christians whether they're not Christians, whether they love the Lord or whether they're antagonistic against the Lord. We've got God using a human alphabet to put something of himself into words that people can possibly understand.

Speaker 1:

He's Alpha, he's Omega, he's the beginning and the end. He's. You know, he was there at the beginning. And Book of Revelation, hallelujah, amen. The Lord is there at the end too as well, and the Lord saw it all. The Lord sees it all. The Lord knows it all. He knows the beginning and he knows the end. He's been to the beginning, he's been to the end and history is just sort of playing out. The end and history is just sort of playing out.

Speaker 1:

But he's putting himself, he's putting his nature into a way that people can possibly understand it, putting himself into a way that you know, by grace and through faith. You know, we mix the Word of God with faith and hallelujah and amen, and especially with the help of the Holy Ghost, help of the Holy Spirit, inside he's a. You know, the Holy Ghost is a comforter, the Holy Ghost is a counselor. The Holy Ghost is, you know, the Lord himself, bringing us into relationship with himself. And we can know God through the word that he has given us, through the specific word that he has given us. He gave it so that he wouldn't you know, so so that we would be able to know him, so that we would be able to hear him, so that we would be able to interact with him and know it's him, and know what's going on, and so that he might draw us to Himself.

Speaker 1:

Hallelujah and amen for salvation, for forgiveness, for healing, for eternal life. And what is eternal life? We look back at that in the Scripture. Eternal life is knowing the Lord, is knowing the Father. You know, hallelujah and amen, that's what eternal life is. Eternal life isn't a head knowledge thing, it isn't a performance thing, but no, eternal life is having an intimate relationship and fellowship with the Lord himself, with the Father, hallelujah and amen, by grace and through faith, because the Father sent Jesus and Jesus shed his blood and Jesus died an atoning death so that our sin would be washed away, so that we would be purified, so that we would go from sinners to saints, so that we can go from being dead to being alive, so that we could go from being enemies of God to being friends of God. And this is what the Lord's done, and that is a powerful, powerful, powerful thing.

Speaker 1:

And the Lord's done that through communication. And then we have the indwelling Holy Ghost, we have the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit communicates and communicates and communicates, and he points to everything that the Lord said and he brings that to us. And he brings that to us and he helps us to apply that. He even helps us to pray. The Holy Ghost helps us to pray. The Lord gives gifts. The Lord gives gifts. Hallelujah and amen.

Speaker 1:

The Lord interacts. The Lord puts us together with other people. He puts us together with other people who have the same spirit, who are washed in the same blood, whose sins got forgiven, the same way We've all believed on the same Jesus. Jesus has brought us to the Father. We have Jesus and we have the Father, and so we have fellowship one with another, with other people, have fellowship one with another, with other people, and it's a precious thing because the Lord simply has this desire in Himself, in His nature, to communicate. And that's a precious, precious thing. And the Lord's communicated.

Speaker 1:

You know, as I've said before on the program, as I've said before, kind of behind the pulpit in our church services, the Lord has given a complete word in what we call the Holy Bible. He's given us exactly what he wanted to give us, not one word more, not one word less than what he wants to give us. And it's a perfectly complete revelation word of God. And he's given it to us so that we might know who he is. And in doing so, the Lord reveals who we are. And that's a precious, precious thing because as the Lord reveals who he is, we see our sin, we see the iniquity, we see the wickedness, we see the deceit in the human heart, we see the fallenness in the human heart.

Speaker 1:

And the Lord continues to communicate. He continues to communicate, he continues to say you know, look, you know, I see that fallenness and you see that fallenness. I see that sin and you see that sin and that sin's been against me. And yet I still love you and I want you to be with me. I want you to be reconciled, I want you to be healed, I want you to be redeemed, I want you to be born again. And that is a precious, precious thing. I keep on saying that word precious because it is.

Speaker 1:

It is that the Lord himself, the one who made us and the one who loves us. He talks and he interacts and he has a word. And that word is simply true. That word is simply full of goodness, that word is simply full of authority. That word, it never changes, it never diminishes. The Lord doesn't add to it, the Lord doesn't take away from it, the Lord doesn't twist it, the Lord doesn't change it. But it's the same word to us today that it was to people in the first century. It's the same word to us today that it was to people in the first century. It's the same word to us today than it was to people 500 years ago. It's the same word to us today and that it will be. If the Lord gives another generation, another two generations, maybe another three generations, if the Lord gives that, they will have the same word and God will interact with them the same way he interacts with us, and he'll be the same God. You see, that's such a big difference between the world and between the demonic and between God.

Speaker 1:

You know, false teachers and idols have been around for a long time. They were around in ancient days and they're around in the modern day. And all of those false teachers, all of those idols, all of the demonic stuff, you'll notice something about it In the modern day, in America especially, they need subscribers, they need believers, they need technology, they need electricity, they need users, they need ad revenue, they need sales, they need people to buy into this, they need people to support this, they need people to talk about this, they need people to tell you know other people. You know, hey, watch this. Hey, you know, look at this. Hey, go to this place. Hey, you know, you know, buy this book.

Speaker 1:

You know, whatever the case may be, but the false teacher and the false idol is not successful and is not effective without human support buying into them, without people buying into them. The support of the people props them up, into them. The support of the people props them up, and that is not so with God, a false teacher and a false idol. That idol has as much influence, as much authority, as much success, if you will, as people give into it. People give into it. If people stop believing, then the idol goes away. It dies out. If people stop subscribing, then the false teacher dies out. The false teacher goes away. If people stop buying into it, stop using, stop going there, stop supporting it, whatever the case may be, however they support it, then it sort of ceases and it sort of dies off and it sort of goes away. And that is not so with God.

Speaker 1:

God communicates with us. God gave us his word. God came down. You know, jesus Christ came down. Hallelujah and amen.

Speaker 1:

The Holy Ghost is sent and the Holy Ghost is ministering today. The Holy Ghost is ministering as you're listening to this today. You know, bless God and amen. That's to his glory. But the Lord is communicating with you today. The Lord is communicating with other people today. The Lord is communicating with the world at large today.

Speaker 1:

And guess what? God is complete in who he is. God is whole in who he is. And God, you know, he sure wants you to believe him. He sure wants you to be saved, he sure wants you to be born again. He sure wants you to be filled with the Holy Ghost. He sure wants you to have eternal life. He wants you to have the fruits of the Holy Ghost bearing out in your life. He wants you to have the Holy Ghost joy, the Holy Ghost peace, the Holy Ghost temperance, the Holy Ghost wisdom. All of that bearing out, bearing out, the Holy Ghost wisdom, all of that bearing out, bearing out, bearing out and abounding in your life. That's his desire for you and at the same time he I mean he loves you. He is love and he loves you passionately. So he loves you, he loves you, he loves you. At the same time, he's not propped up by you. He's not propped up by you.

Speaker 1:

If there was not a single soul who believed God, that wouldn't diminish him. If there were not a single soul that believed Jesus, it wouldn't diminish who he is. It wouldn't diminish what he's done. It wouldn't diminish his life. It wouldn't diminish his authority. It wouldn't diminish his influence. It wouldn't diminish his mercy, would not diminish his grace, would not diminish his justice, would not diminish in any way who he is.

Speaker 1:

You see, the Lord is not an idol that he needs to be propped up. You see, the Lord is not an idol that he needs to be propped up. The Lord is not a false teacher in that he needs to bring the crowds. He needs the support of the crowd, he needs the adulation of the crowd, he needs the worship of the crowd. That's not him. He doesn't need the money of the crowd, he doesn't need the support of the crowd, he doesn't need the endorsement of the crowd, he doesn't need the crowdment of the crowd, he doesn't need the crowd kind of behind him.

Speaker 1:

No, the Lord is complete in who he is and you know, bless God, you know the Lord, you know that, hypothetical, if there were not a single soul, well, bless God, there are souls who believe on the Lord, there are souls who are born again, there are souls who love the Lord, jesus Christ. There are souls who love the Father, there are souls who love the Holy Ghost. There are, and that is a blessed, blessed thing, because God has brought all of those people, everyone who believes on him, god has brought us into a precious, precious, precious relationship. That's been going on for a long time, you know, and there's a completion there. There's a completion there to the point that you know the church is called the bride of Christ and that is a completion and that's a blessed thing.

Speaker 1:

It's amazing to consider that Jesus Christ himself, after he was resurrected, he kept the scars, he kept the holes, he kept where the nails pierced him, he kept where the spear pierced him and his disciples, especially Thomas, who was called Didymus, he could see that and interact with him and touch. You know, jesus could be touched. Jesus ate with people. After he was risen again. You know they could touch him, they could see him, they could hear him, they could talk with him. He could talk with them, they could eat together, they could relate together. And Jesus wasn't that way. But the Lord interacted and the Lord took on his flesh and the Lord kept that.

Speaker 1:

And we see in the book of Revelation, amen, that the Lord still has a resurrected body and that's an amazing, amazing, amazing thing that speaks to the depth and the passion that the Lord has for relationship, that the Lord has for coming to the world, that he created, that the Lord has for reconciling people to Himself, that the Lord has for that, that he be known by you. And so you know you could say I mean the Lord didn't change in his nature, the Lord didn't change in his holiness. The Lord didn't compromise, his holiness didn't compromise the truth, but the Lord moved himself in a way that he had never done before. When the Lord Jesus took on flesh, he moved himself in a way that he had never done before. When the Lord Jesus took on flesh, he moved himself in a way that he had never done before. When the Lord Jesus died, and he moved himself in a way that he had never done before when, hallelujah and amen, the Lord was risen up from the dead.

Speaker 1:

And so the Lord speaks and the Lord communicates, and the Lord has a desire that you hear him. The Lord has a desire that you hear him. The Lord has a desire that you believe him. The Lord has a desire if you're listening to this and you're in your sin, the Lord has a desire that you be saved from under his wrath, because if you are yet in your sins, you are yet under his wrath. And the Lord has a desire that you be saved from that wrath, that your sin be washed away, that your sin be, you know, just washed away, completely, washed away, totally, washed away, utterly. That you be as far from your sin as the East is from the West, and that you be born again and filled with the Holy Ghost and receive eternal life. And that eternal life is knowing God, that eternal life is walking with Him, that eternal life is receiving from Him, that eternal life is having a relationship with Him, that eternal life is a precious thing and that's what he wants you to have. He doesn't want you to be cast into hell. He doesn't want to have to cast you into hell. Matter of fact, the only way that you will be cast into hell is if you ignore Jesus, if you push Jesus off, if you reject Jesus, if you fight. You know, spend your whole life fighting against him. But may you believe him today and may you submit to him today, may you yield to him today, as you know, and may you be born again. You know and church. May you be encouraged by this. I hope it's been encouragement to you.
