Redeeming Love Bible Broadcast

With You (Part 2)

Pastor Phil Duddy Season 5 Episode 9

Send us a text

We continue to look at the topic of authority in Matthew 28. How does this authority impact your life today? Join us as we uncover the blessings that come from surrendering to Jesus as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We'll discuss how His unwavering faithfulness guarantees salvation and eternal life for those who believe, offering forgiveness and reconciliation to all who feel burdened by sin.

As followers of Christ, we are called to "go and teach all nations," a mission that extends beyond the original disciples to each of us today. We'll delve into the heart of discipleship, emphasizing a spiritual transformation that springs from living a new life in Christ. Through the profound symbolism of baptism in Romans 6, we explore the unity with Christ in death and resurrection, leading to true freedom from sin.

NEW BOOK! I'm pleased to say that we have completed a new book that has been years in the making. The Ten Shirot: Songs of Redemption looks at ten songs that were sung through pivotal times in Scripture. It's an examination of the redemption of Jesus, of worship, and of Scripture in a way that we believe you probably haven't seen before. Check it out at https://a.co/d/0a4KIooL .

Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome to the Redeeming Love Bible broadcast. My name is Phil Duddy, evangelist with Grace Baptist Tabernacle of King, north Carolina. Really happy to have you with me on the program today. As always, please do reach out to us at Redeingthelost at icloudcom. We would love to hear from you. Glad to have you with me today as we continue our series called With you.

Speaker 1:

This is going to be part two of that series and we're going to be right back in Matthew, chapter 28. So let's go to Matthew 28, and we will read the word of God, starting at verse 16. Then the 11 disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them, and when they saw him, they worshipped him. But some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying all power is given unto me in heaven and earth. Go ye, therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever. I've commanded you and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen, amen, amen, amen and hallelujah. And what we saw last time was the authority of Jesus Christ. And when Jesus Christ says that all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth, and we spent a long time last time on the program seeing that authority, and what a blessing that is to those who are born again. What a blessing to those who are spirit filled. What a blessing to those who are spirit-filled. What a blessing to those who are in Christ and Christ is in us. That Jesus is King of Kings and Jesus is Lord of Lords, and Jesus has all power given unto him in heaven and in earth. That's our Lord, that's our God, and in earth, that's our Lord. That's our God.

Speaker 1:

He's not impotent, he's not weak and he's not flawed in any way. He doesn't get tired, he doesn't get bored, he's faithful. He's faithful to everything he says, he's faithful to every promise that he's made, and he not only says it, but he brings it to pass. He not only promises us these things, but he brings it to pass. He not only shed his blood, he not only died an atoning death, he not only rose again from the dead, but also, in addition to those things he is able to save to the uttermost, he is able to save those who put their faith in him. He is able to take care of those who put their faith in him. He's not only able to do these things. He's not only able to save people from the wrath of God, he's not only able to give people eternal life. He's not only able to make people born again. He's not only able to make all things new. He's not only able to do things. What's more, he doesn't just have the ability, he also has the will. He desires these things. He desires these things and he delights in these things.

Speaker 1:

Jesus is not reluctant to save somebody. He's not reluctant to save you. If you're listening to this and you need salvation, if you're listening to this and you are yet in your sins and you're in danger of dying in those sins and you're in danger of experiencing the wrath of God, you're in danger of that wrath falling on you. You're in danger of hell itself. I've got good news for you, because Jesus has good news for you. He says it right here.

Speaker 1:

He says it in other places in the New Testament, he even says it in the Old Testament that he delights to save people. He delights to reconcile people. He delights to forgive people. He is rich in mercy. He is rich in grace. He is full of grace and he's full of truth. He's slow to anger, and amen and glory and hallelujah. That's why the wrath of God hasn't fallen on you yet, because you know God has a wrath, but he's slow to anger and he is rich in mercy.

Speaker 1:

And you're listening to this today and God's got goodness and mercy following you so that you can hear the good news of Jesus Christ that he became your sin his. He took upon himself your sin. The father imputed to him your sin. He died the death that you should die. He experienced, um, um, you know God turning his face away from him. He experienced death and he died the death that you should die.

Speaker 1:

And he has risen again today and he's saying come unto me, come unto me, come unto me, call upon me, believe on me and I will give you eternal life. Um, you know we, you know my father, will forgive your sin. You know God says you flip ahead to 1 John a little bit. And God is. You know the Father is faithful and just to forgive everybody who believes on Jesus Christ. He is faithful and just to forgive you, no matter how heinous or twisted your sin might be. Forgive you, no matter how heinous or twisted your sin might be. He will not throw out somebody who's humble. He will not throw out somebody who's listening to this.

Speaker 1:

And you've got the fear of the Lord and you know you're in sin and it's deep down in your soul that there is a convincing and a convicting going on that you are in your sin and you are looking at death and you're looking at eternal hell and your sin is against God. Your sin is against God. You know, yeah, you've sinned against other people, but you've sinned against God. And if there's a desire in you to be forgiven, if there's a desire in you to be forgiven, if there's a desire in you to submit yourself to Jesus Christ, if there's a faith rising up in you in Jesus, that this is for you, that he is Lord, he is King, he is God and that this message is right for you today, then I want you to stop everything right now and call upon the name of the Lord is right for you today. Then I want you to stop everything right now and call upon the name of the Lord, call upon the name of Jesus and ask him that he would save you and that you would be born again, you would be forgiven, you would have eternal life, you'd be filled with the Holy Ghost, because the Lord, jesus Christ, he's not only able to save you, he's willing to save you and anybody who puts their faith in him, whosoever put their faith in him and call upon his name, he's ready, willing and able to save you. You know, in this message here today, you know hallelujah, bless God and amen.

Speaker 1:

But the Lord is so good because he says you know to his disciples. He says you know to us today. Go ye, therefore, and teach all nations. This is not just for the immediate 11 disciples who are standing around. You know, this comes to us today as well. And Jesus says all power is given unto me in heaven and the earth. And on the basis of that, because of that, he says go. On the basis of his kingship, on the basis of his lordship, on the basis of his good authority, he says go ye. Therefore. You know, bless God and amen. You know we've got the Holy Ghost today. And he says go ye, therefore.

Speaker 1:

And I love this verse, because there's a command to go but there's not a command to stop. Did you ever notice that there's a command to go and there's no command to stop? Because Jesus says that if you skip down to verse 20, he says lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world, even into the consummation of this period of time, even to the end of this age of time which we call the church age today. Bless God, even unto that, to the consummation and to the end of that, he is with us always, and it's all on the basis of his will, it's on the basis of his authority, it's all on the basis of his kingship. And he says go ye, therefore. And so, yeah, he's talking about these 11 people and he's talking about the church which was going to come up. And he's talking about, you know, the church is going to come up.

Speaker 1:

In Acts, chapter two, he's talking about them and he's talking about all the way down the line through history, right up until 2024. That's when this is being recorded, anyway, july of 2024. But no matter when you're listening to this, amen, but right up until the present day, this command is there. There's a command to go, there's no command to stop, and there are so many promises. You know, and we'll get into, you know, verse 20 a little bit more last time. But jesus is always with us, the holy ghost is always with us. He's with us in this whole time that we are going and that we are teaching all of the nations.

Speaker 1:

And this teaching is the sense of making a disciple. This teaching is a sense of you know someone who's a follower, someone who learns and receives from Jesus. And, my friend, I've got to tell you today this is not just an academic thing, this is not just you thing, this is not just academic head knowledge. That's not what making a disciple is. It's way beyond academic. And the verse doesn't stop there. The verse sort of explains itself. It said baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Baptizing them and again baptizing somebody. Being baptized, it's more than water, it's more than getting wet, it's more than going under the water and coming up out of the water. It's way more than that. And you know, come on with me to the book of Romans. We'll just read a little bit out of Romans, chapter 6, here.

Speaker 1:

Book of Romans, chapter 6, and I'm going to start right here, in verse 3. Know ye not that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death, didn't just get wet, but baptized into his death? And the Word of God continues, says therefore, we are buried with him by baptism into death that, like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father. Even so, we also should walk in newness of life. So we're not talking theology. So we're not talking theology. We're not talking church history. We're not talking. You know, even knowing. You know biblical Greek and biblical Hebrew. We're not talking about all the classroom stuff here. This is beyond that. We should walk in newness of life.

Speaker 1:

And verse 5 continues, says For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death Amen, I like that planted, you know hallelujah and amen, you know, just like you put a seed deep into the ground If we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection, knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin, for he that is dead is freed from sin. Now, if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him, knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dieth. No more Death hath no more dominion over him, for in that he died, he died unto sin once, but in that he liveth. He liveth unto God. Likewise, reckon ye also yourselves to be dead, indeed unto sin Again.

Speaker 1:

More than just head knowledge Again, more than just declaring yourself to be a follower of Jesus Again, more than just simply agreeing that what Jesus says is true. But, my friend, this is deep, this is deep. This is deep. Likewise, reckon ye also yourselves to be dead, indeed, unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Let not sin, therefore, reign in your mortal body that you should obey it in the lust thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin, but yield yourselves unto God. Yield yourselves unto God on the most personal, deep, fundamental levels, on the level of your spirit, which is alive in Jesus Christ, our Lord, on the level of your soul, your volition, your heart, your will. You yield yourself and you yield your members. You yield this body, you yield your mind. You yield yourself no longer to sin, but you yield yourselves to God as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. No longer using your mind for sin, no longer using your hands for sin, no longer using your feet for sin, no longer using your hands for sin, no longer using your feet from sin, no longer using your body for sin, but you yield yourselves unto God as those who are alive from the dead, amen, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God, for sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under the law, but grace.

Speaker 1:

And, my friend, that's a little bit more what baptism is, that's a little bit more of what discipleship is, that's what making a disciple is. So, yes, a disciple must be born again. And so we have evangelism, and so we have the preaching of Jesus, and so we have prayer, and so we have ministry, and so we have intercession, and so we have the preaching of Jesus, and so we have prayer, and so we have ministry, and so we have intercession, and so we have witnessing, and so we have declaring the word of God. So we have preaching the word of God, so we have living the word of God. Now we must have evangelism, we must have people, you know, we must have saved, born again, spirit-filled disciples. But my friend, romans, chapter 6, verses 3 through 14, what we just read, that goes on in every single solitary disciple. And so, again, like I sort of cheated a little bit, and I said it already.

Speaker 1:

It's way more than academic knowledge. It's way more than morality. It's way more than behavior management. It's way more than just learning some biblical principles. It's way more than taking a biblical history class. It's way more than financial classes. It's way more than that. It's way more than you know principles to be a better dad or a better mom or a better wife or a better son or a better daughter. It's way more than that.

Speaker 1:

You know, there's an intimate encounter with Jesus Christ and it begins with him showing you your sin and it begins with you yielding yourself to him. It begins with you calling upon the Lord him. It begins with you calling upon the Lord Jesus. It begins with your salvation, it begins with your forgiveness, it begins with receiving the Holy Ghost. But it begins there, my friend, and you'll notice that salvation and receiving the Holy Ghost, receiving eternal life, receiving all these things absolutely none of that is things. Absolutely none of that is academic, absolutely none of that is learning the correct theological truths, or whatever you want to call it. None of it's academic.

Speaker 1:

Salvation doesn't happen in our minds, right?

Speaker 1:

But no, my friend, salvation is in the spirit, salvation is in the will, salvation is in the heart, and so the faith rises up from you. The faith rises up in you and you willingly, volitionally, yield yourself and call upon the name of Jesus. You willingly, volitionally believe Jesus, in the name of Jesus. You willingly, volitionally believe Jesus. And, my friend, you know your mind's involved with that, but it doesn't happen in your mind. And bless God and amen for that.

Speaker 1:

Because, hallelujah, you know, the mind is a fallen thing, the mind is a corrupt thing thing. The mind is a corrupt thing, the mind. You know, this fallen mind can be a very, very, very dangerous thing. But, hallelujah, jesus is talking to your heart today, and so what will you do with that? What will you do with that?

Speaker 1:

As a Christian hearing this, will you believe this? Will you let this get you excited about going and making disciples? Because your Lord and your God and your King, he's in authority, he's on his throne, he's ruling, he's reigning and he's saying you know, on the basis of who I am, on the basis of this authority I have, I want you to go and I want you to teach these nations, I want you to baptize them in the name of the Father, son, holy Ghost, and I'm going to be with you through the whole thing, even into the end of this age. Now, does that get you excited? Does that get you fired up? Does that get you excited about walking this out with your God, because he's going to be with you every step of the way?

Speaker 1:

And, my friend, there's going to be a practicality that comes about. You know, you're going to see, you're not going to just know the Word of God. You're going to see the Word of God in action. You're going to see it moving. You're going to see him moving in you. You're going to see him moving through. You're going to see him moving in these other people.

Speaker 1:

So this is way more than just principles and facts and dates and you know all the stuff that you can learn in the classroom. This is way more than that. This is way more than just a mental thing. And hallelujah for that. Because you know, I said you know this mind's corrupt, this mind's fallen, and so that's why God gives you a new one, god saves you and God gives you the mind of Christ. Amen. And that's a good good thing, because hallelujah and amen for that. Because he saves you to the uttermost, he saves you fully, he saves you entirely, he saves you perfectly, he saves you completely and he does not let you go for one second after that, because he is a faithful and a true God. And, matter of fact, you know I've been through it and you know I know other people have been through it too.

Speaker 1:

Born again people, and you know we walk away from the Lord. You know there are times, you know we walk away from the Lord, but I can tell you the truth. You know, not only in my life but in other people in our church, he has always come and brought us back. He's never let us go and that's been amazing grace. That's been His faithfulness, that's been His redeeming love, that's been His passionate love as a father, as the head of the church and as the lover of our souls. So that's the kind of God this is. And so you know and I hope you're hearing that that that you know.

Speaker 1:

This goes on in everybody who is a disciple. Yeah, god deals with your mind, god helps you with your mind, but it goes way, way, way, way beyond just sort of a mental thing and just some principles and just some morals and just some good behavior and just you know. Just you know maybe a different dress code or something like that. You know it's way, way, way beyond that, and so I ask you, is that your walk with Jesus today, right this second? Because that's the kind of walk he wants you to have.

Speaker 1:

And you know, church, if you're listening to this as a born again, spirit filled, brother in the Lord, a sister in the Lord, I hope this has been a blessing to you. Wherever you are in this world, wherever you are in terms of the nations, whether you're here in America or in the several nations around the world who are listening to this, I pray this has been a real blessing, a real encouragement for you in your walk with the Lord, been a real blessing, a real encouragement for you in your walk with the Lord. And you know, and again, if you're listening to this and the Lord has shown you that you need to be born again, I hope you've already called upon the name of the Lord. If you haven't yet, may you do that. You know, just right now, call upon the name of Jesus, ask him to be saved, ask him to be born again, yield yourself to him. Let that faith that's in you come on up out of your mouth and come into some words, amen. And you know we want to hear from you wherever you are, whatever the Lord's doing in you. So, redeemingthelost at iCloudcom, get in touch with us. Let us know how we can pray with you, let us know how we can pray for you and let us know your situation and what's going on.
