NEW BOOK! I'm pleased to say that we have completed a new book that has been years in the making. The Ten Shirot: Songs of Redemption looks at ten songs that were sung through pivotal times in Scripture. It's an examination of the redemption of Jesus, of worship, and of Scripture in a way that we believe you probably haven't seen before. Check it out at https://a.co/d/0a4KIooL .

Hello, greetings and welcome to the Redeeming Love Bible broadcast. My name is Phil Duddy, evangelist with Grace Baptist Tabernacle of King, north Carolina. Thankful to the Lord to have you with me on the broadcast today and please do reach out to us at redeemingthelost at icloudcom. We would love to hear from you there.
Speaker 1:Today I want to talk about something very, very simple the simple presence of God and the reality that God is near and God is not far away. God is near, god is not far away. God is near. He's not behind a wall somewhere. He's near. He's not locked up in a box somewhere. He's not locked up in a box somewhere. He's not behind a bunch of rituals waiting for you to do a bunch of rituals to get to talk to him. He's not waiting in a certain location that you have to get up and go and you have to be in that location in order to hear something from God or in order to say something to God.
Speaker 1:He's close, he's near, and this is true especially for those of us who are born again, filled with the Holy Spirit. God is near, he is close. I mean close is too small a word for someone who is filled with the Holy Spirit, for someone who has believed Jesus, for someone you know, the blood of Jesus is applied to us and our sin's no longer a factor. Our sin is gone, our conscience is purged from the old, dead works and we are in the Lord and we are rejoicing in the Lord and we are living this abundant, full, fruitful life in the Lord. God is speaking to us, he's leading to it, he's leading us. We're speaking to Him. He's speaking back. God is bearing His fruit in us and so close. To say that God is close to someone who is Spirit-filled close is really too small a word for it. You are in Christ and Christ is in you and there's a vibrant, abundant life there. And I want to draw your attention to the reality that if you're not born again today, if you're outside of Christ today, well, god is not in a wall, he's not behind a wall, he's not in a box. He's not waiting for you to do some rituals in the right manner. He's not waiting for you to get up and go to some sort of specific location, some sort of building or some sort of service or some sort of plane or mountaintop or anything like that. He's not waiting for you to do any of these things. He is close to you today and we are going to unpack this now.
Speaker 1:We'll be at a few different places in the scripture today, but let's start with hebrews, chapter 10. So hebrews, chapter 10. So come down to verse 19 and we will read the word of god. And this is what the Word of God says to us Having, therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which he hath consecrated for us through the veil, that is to say his flesh, and having a high priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart, in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water, with pure water, a new and a living way which Jesus has consecrated, and that is past tense. Bless God, consecrated. He has already set this way apart, that this is the way we come to the Lord, and it's a new way and it's a living way. It's by the blood of Jesus and we enter into the holiest and bless God and amen the holiest. And this verse talks about the holiest and if you go down to verse 20, it talks about a veil. He is consecrated for us through the veil, that is to say his flesh.
Speaker 1:And if you go back to the crucifixion accounts in Matthew, mark, luke and John, they give an account of the time that the Lord was put onto the cross. The time that the Lord went to the cross and he was whipped and he was beaten and he was scourged and he was pierced with the nails that held him onto the cross. He was pierced with those nails. Scripture tells us he was also pierced with a lance. There was a soldier who was present at the crucifixion and he pierced Jesus in the side with a spear, with a lance. His flesh was torn. And we have accounts in the scripture that right before Jesus laid down his life, right before Jesus gave up the ghost, right before Jesus commits himself into the hands of his father and he dies a literal death on the cross, he lays down his life on the cross. He said it is finished. Just before he laid down his life, it is finished. And Jesus died. And the Gospels record that.
Speaker 1:Something happened in the temple right when Jesus died. Something happened in the temple. There was a place called the Most Holy Place or the Holy of Holies in the temple and this place was sort of walled off. There was like a wall around it and the wall was made of a veil, and this veil was a heavy curtain that separated the holy place from the most holy place. And there's a whole lot of teaching that can go on here.
Speaker 1:There's a lot of study about the temple itself and about the tabernacle in the days of Moses, and you'll see that there was a most holy place. There was a holy place and a most holy place, and the most holy place was covered or walled off by a veil, by a heavy curtain. And inside that holy place and the book of Hebrews tells us this as well in chapter 9, there was a most holy place and the high priest went into that most holy place once per year and the priest was carrying blood with him to offer for the errors of the people, as Hebrews tells it, to offer for the sins of the people, to offer for his own sins. It was necessary for the high priest to offer for his own sins, and this happened once a year. And this most holy place, that's where the ark was in the tabernacle, this is where the mercy seat was, in the tabernacle, this is where blood was applied for the sin of the people, for the sins and the errors of the people, once a year, blood was applied and the high priest himself, who had to go through a lot of cleansing. There was a lot that the high priest himself had to do in order to perform this ministry, which was a godly ministry and a good ministry under the law in the time of the law. And long story short, because you could preach for six months to a year.
Speaker 1:Just on this, just on the Day of Atonement, just on the various and different sacrifices that were made under the law, whether they were blood sacrifices or burnt offerings or wave offerings or grain offerings. There was a whole lot of different offering that was made under the law. But the point for today is that every one of those offerings, even the veil itself and the Holy of Holies and the high priest entering in with blood once a year to offer for the sins of the people, once a year to offer for the sins of the people, god put it there and it all points to Jesus. It all points to Jesus. This new and living way that he, jesus, hath consecrated for us. He set it aside through the veil, that is to say his flesh.
Speaker 1:So Hebrews, the Holy Ghost in the book of Hebrews here, is likening that old veil to the flesh of Jesus, the flesh of Jesus. And just as that flesh was torn. The flesh of Jesus was torn, it was pierced. He was scourged. There was a whipping that went on during the scourging and then he had to bring the cross up out of the city and he had to have help carrying the cross because he was so scourged. His flesh was torn. And then, when he was put onto the cross, his flesh was torn again by the nails that were driven through his flesh While he hung on the cross. His flesh was torn yet again when the soldier thrust a spear into his side. And how powerful is it that when he died, the veil that separated the most holy place from the other parts of the temple, that separated that most holy place from the other parts of the temple, that separated that most holy place, that veil was torn from top to bottom. Glory to God. What does this mean? That we have a new and living way.
Speaker 1:The book of Hebrews says we have a high priest over in the house of God. That's Jesus. Let us draw near, because God has opened the way. God has torn the veil. God is not waiting for you to come and do a bunch of rituals. He's not waiting for you to come and bring an offering. He's not waiting for you to come and say a certain prayer. He's not waiting for you to be in a certain state of emotion. He's not waiting for you to be in a certain state of mind. He's not waiting for you to be in a certain state of mind. He's not waiting for you to be in a certain situation. He's not waiting for you to clean yourself up before you come into his presence. He's not waiting for you. He says I have removed every possible barrier that could come up between myself and a human being. God has removed every barrier, god has removed every wall. He has removed everything by a new and living way, which he has set aside for us through the veil, that is to say, his flesh, jesus. And he says let us draw near. Let us draw near because, my friend, the blood of Jesus has already been shed. My friend, the blood of Jesus has already been shed. My friend, the blood of Jesus has already been accepted and received by God on your behalf, and Jesus is alive. This is a living way and we don't relate with God on the basis of death. We don't relate with God on the basis of sin. We relate with God on the basis of life. Hallelujah and amen, because God is alive. Father, son, holy Spirit. They are three in one, one in three. The point is we have a living God. He's alive and he's well and he's mighty and he's powerful and he's good, and he's not looking for you to make offering after offering after offering, simply to be in his presence. He has consecrated a new and living way.
Speaker 1:Jesus himself, he said on the night before he was crucified. He said I am the way, the truth and the life. I am the way, the truth and the life. God came down and God reached out, and God made this possible. He made it possible for anybody to be born again. Jesus has presently, right now, right this minute, made it possible for whosoever will believe on him to be born again, to be saved, to be healed, to be saved from the wrath of God, to have his blood applied and for all of the sin to be washed away. Jesus, right this very moment, right this very moment, the Lord is drawing people to himself.
Speaker 1:Jesus said a little while before he was crucified. He said I'm going to be raised up. And he was speaking about being raised up on the cross, because the cross, you know, didn't happen on the ground. There was a raising up so that people could see the person who was crucified. It was a public spectacle.
Speaker 1:Jesus knew he was going to be raised up on the cross and Jesus also knew why he was going to be raised up on the cross. He was going to lay down his life and give his life as a ransom. He was going to die the death that we deserve. He was going to bear our sins and, at the same exact time, he was going to fulfill the law. He was going to fulfill the day of atonement, when the high priest entered into the most holy place once a year, with blood for himself and blood for the people. He was going to fulfill that law. He was going to fulfill the Passover. He was going to fulfill the entire law of Moses that he had given to Moses to point forward to himself. He was going to fulfill that law and make it possible for Jew and Gentile alike to be born again, for Jew and Gentile alike to be saved from the wrath of God, for Jew and Gentile alike to be in the presence of God without bringing any offering for themselves selves, but having received the offering that God made on your behalf. See, jesus made an offering on your behalf. He's the Son of God, he's fully God and fully man. So that's why I say God made an offering on your behalf. God literally made his offering.
Speaker 1:Jesus was born of a virgin. Jesus was born and he had a body. He had flesh. The word became flesh and dwelt among us and walked among us and ministered and preached and bore witness to the truth and wept among us and walked among us and ministered and preached and bore witness to the truth and wept and laughed and sang, and he hungered and he thirsted and he ate and he was filled and he ministered among us and he walked among us. And when the time drew near and when the time was right, he shed blood. He shed real, literal blood for you and me and he laid down a real, literal life and he died a real, literal, true death for you and me to make it, so that you and I could receive what he's already done, so that you and I could receive what he's already done, so that you and I could simply receive him and everything that he did for us on that old, rugged cross. You know he responds to prayer today. You know the Holy Spirit dwells in living temples.
Speaker 1:Paul would write that in his letters to the Corinthians that you are, if you're saved and if you're born again, you are the temple of the Holy Spirit. You are the temple. The temple and even the tabernacle. Before that looked ahead to what Almighty God was going to do in your life, what Almighty God was going to do in the church, what God was going to do in all of the individual men, women and children, all of the individual living temples that make up the church. See, every single one of us who is born again, god says you're a temple of the Holy Spirit, you're a living temple.
Speaker 1:You come to God through a living way. You relate with God, who is alive on the basis of life and not death. Why? Because God already took your sin off the table. There is no more death. Death has lost its sting. God has given you eternal life, and so you relate with a living God, having an eternal life that you got from the living God, and this life is abundant and full, and God is bearing his fruit in you on a moment by moment by moment by moment by moment by moment by moment by moment by moment by moment basis. We relate with God on the basis of life, because Jesus has already taken care of our death. By his death, by his blood, by his sacrifice that he made and, hallelujah and amen, by the fact that he rose again from the dead on the third day, he has already taken sin off the table.
Speaker 1:He has already removed not only the veil that separated the most holy place from the holy place, not only the veil that was there under the law, but I'll tell you the truth, man, he has removed fornication. He has removed murder. He has removed hatred. He has removed pride. He has removed all the twisted, false doctrines of devils. He has removed apostasy. He has removed blame. He has removed hurt and woundedness. He has removed depression and despair. He has removed all of it Because, my friend, by his stripes we are healed. My friend, jesus became your sin on the cross. He became everything of sin, everything that could possibly separate God from you. He became it and he bore it and he died and he's risen again.
Speaker 1:And so, my friend, if you're apart from God today, you're not alone. It's not that God is pushing you away. If you are apart from God today, it's not that God hasn't made it possible for you to be born again and to be in his presence and to be with him. My friend, the only reason anybody is apart from God is because of unbelief. Reason anybody is apart from God is because of unbelief. The only reason anybody is apart from God is because people choose to believe something other than Him. People choose to believe in something else, people choose to trust other things that aren't God. But, my friend, you can't look at the New Testament and the Old Testament and say that God wants anybody to be apart from him, because he already took away everything that could possibly separate us and, what's more, possibly separate us and what's more. He's not waiting for you to come, he's not waiting for you to make the first move, he's not waiting for you to reach out to him first.
Speaker 1:Now, my friend, the Holy Spirit is reaching out to you right now, today, while you're listening to this message, to this message, and he says I want you to be with me. I've made it all possible. You don't need to bring any sort of blood offering, you don't need to bring any sort of money. You don't need to bring any sort of effort you don't need to bring. You don't need to go to a certain place, you don't need to be in a certain frame of mind, you don't need to wear certain clothes, you don't need to be in a certain situation. No, I'm coming to you right now, as you are. I'm coming to you right now. Listen to that.
Speaker 1:God is coming to you, for while we were yet sinners, christ died for us. Jesus never waited for the world to get its act together. Jesus never waited for the world to get right with him. No, he came while the world was yet in sin, while people were yet sinners. Jesus showed up and Jesus was crucified. He willingly went to the cross while we were yet sinners. He died for us while we were yet sinners. He rose again while we were yet sinners.
Speaker 1:And he's calling you today to go from sinner to saint, and he's the way that that happens. He's calling you today to believe him. He's calling you today to put your trust in him. He's calling you today to you know. In a way, it's like he's reaching out a hand to you, to you know. In a way, it's like he's reaching out a hand to you. He's calling you today to take his hand and say if you believe on me, I'll take care of the rest. I already have you. Believe on me.
Speaker 1:You're a sinner now, but I'm going to make you into a saint. You're lost and you're dying, but I'm going to make you into a saint. You're lost and you're dying, but I'm going to receive you and you're going to be adopted and you're going to be healed and you're going to be in my presence and you're going to be with me, where I am, and I'm never going to let you go. I'm going to take care of your sin. Your sin is going to be washed away because of what I've already done. You're going to be healed. You're going to have my Holy Spirit dwelling within you. You're going to be in my presence. I'm going to be in your presence. You're going to be in my presence. I'm going to be in your presence. I'm going to be in you. You're going to be in me. You're going to be with me. I'm going to be with you. There's going to be a closeness that we have and I'm never letting you go.
Speaker 1:You'll call to me and I'll respond to you. I'll minister to you and I'll respond to you. I'll minister to you and I'll minister through you. You will have a holy, good, abundant life. You will have a peace that this world cannot understand and cannot counterfeit and cannot reproduce. You will have a peace that comes directly from me and you will be in my presence by a new and living way, which Jesus has consecrated for us through the veil, that is to say his flesh, having a high priest, that's Jesus, again over the house of God.
Speaker 1:Draw near. The word of God says, let us draw near. But, my friend, I say to you today, don't wait another second. Draw near with a true heart, in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. My friend, the blood of Jesus is for you today and I hope, church, that this is an encouragement to you. My friend, jesus is in us, we are in Christ and Christ is in us.
Speaker 1:And, my friend, I should encourage you follow what the book of Hebrews says Draw near to your Lord, hallelujah and amen, for your Lord is so very near you. You draw near to him. And, my friend, if you're lost, if you're dying, if you're hell bound, if you're under the wrath of God, today, why should you perish. There's no reason for you to perish, because the Lord has died your death and his blood avails for you. He is alive today. Call to him in faith. Call to him in faith, call upon the name of the Lord, jesus Christ, and you shall be saved. You shall be saved. His blood that he's already shed for you will be applied to you through faith and you'll be born again and you'll be saved and you'll be filled with the Holy Spirit of God, no longer looking forward to a death, but filled with an eternal life.
Speaker 1:And, my friend, I pray that this podcast, this broadcast, has been a real encouragement to you. I want to thank you again for being with me here today and for supporting the broadcast. Thank you, as I record this. We're in approximately 60 nations around the world today and I thank all of you who have been with us for a long time. You're a part of that. Thank you for that.
Speaker 1:We do pray for you generally. Let us know how we can pray for you specifically and also, if the Lord's calling you to come and meet us in person here in North Carolina, please do not delay, but we look forward to meeting you in person as well, and you'll find service times and service locations on our church website, gbtministriescom. And so, my friend, let us know how we can pray for you, let us know what the Lord's doing in your life, and may the Lord continue to richly, richly bless us. Amen, thank you.
